Who is allowed to practice the Somatic Experiencing method?

All certified Somatic Experiencing practitioners completed a thorough 3-year training, which they completed with the title "Somatic Experiencing Practitioner" (SEP) or SE practitioner. The certificate is awarded by the organization European Association for Somatic Experiencing® - EASE and substantiates the methods of dr. Peter A. Levine.

The title of SEP can be obtained by specialists from various fields, such as psychotherapy, psychology, social work, healthcare (doctor, psychiatrist, nurse, physiotherapist, cryotherapist, naturopathic doctor, midwife, acupuncture doctor, paramedic...), touch work (masseur, cranio-sacral therapist, Feldenkreis practitioner...), education (school teacher, yoga teacher...), mediation, "coaching", priesthood, first intervention, etc. Anyone who holds the SEP designation can use the SE method within the scope of practice of their professional field.

For psychotherapeutic purposes, this method can be used by SE practitioners who also perform psychotherapeutic work as their core activity (e.g. psychotherapists, psychiatrists...).

The method is also allowed to be used by educators who are still in the process of 3-year training and are obliged to inform users about it.
